Why we won’t use vinyl:
Vinyl is a petrochemical. It is not an environmentally friendly material and it seeps small amounts of harmful VOC chemicals into the surrounding areas. VOC stands for “Volatile Organic Compounds.” These can be harmful to human health and most modern interior designers try to avoid high-VOC products. We won’t use them in our company.
And to help you feel extra good about that decision: One other major drawback to vinyl is the expense. Vinyl has been strongly affected by the cost of oil. In fact, some of the top grades of vinyl tile cost as much per square foot as authentic marble. So, ya know, there’s that too. If you need to convince someone in your family who’s less concerned about health and the environment, feel free to use this excuse!
